In response to a serious financial crisis threatening Trans World Airlines and Pan American World Airways, the Civil Aeronautics Board approved an agreement between the two carriers for temporary changes in some of the Transatlantic and Transpacific routes operated by each, including what amounted to exchanges of certain routes.
