Plaintiff is the widow of Stephen L. Umberger, deceased, and brought this action on a benefit certificate of life insurance for two thousand dollars. Defendant is a fraternal benefit society organized; chartered and resident in the state of Iowa. It was authorized to do business in Missouri and Kansas and some other states. Its organization embraced local or subordinate lodges in the territory where it did business. It had a local lodge in Kansas City, Missouri.
