Hamid Sattari and Mary Gibson Sattari were convicted by a jury of arson in the first degree, in violation of § 13A-7-41, Code of Alabama 1975. Hamid Sattari was sentenced to a 15-year split sentence, requiring him to serve 3 years' imprisonment followed by 5 years' probation. Mary Gibson Sattari received a split sentence of 12 years, requiring her to serve 2 years' imprisonment followed by 5 years' probation.
