This action is founded upon a bond in the penalty of fifty thousand dollars, given to the Bank of the United States for the faithful performance of the duties of cashier of the branch at Mid-dletown in Connecticut, by Arthur W. Magill. The bond bears date the 27th day of August, in the year 1817, with a condition in the following words: “Whereas the above Arthur W.
