This is an action at law founded upon a policy of insurance against loss or damage by ñre. The case was tried to the jury and resulted in a verdict for the plaintiffs, whereupon the defendants now move for a new trial on the ground of alleged misdirection of the court in the charge to the jury. As there are a number of other cases depending in this court upon similar policies growing out of the loss of the steamer in question, it will be well to make a full statement of this one now before us, and settle, so far as this court is concerned, the legal principles applicable to the main features…
