The- plaintiff recovered a judgment against the defendant, in the Court of Common Pleas for Spartanburg County, in this State, on a cause of action, a debt, which arose prior to the year 1880,1 which judgment was renewed in 1884, amounting, when renewed, to $771.25. Upon this judgment execution was issued and levied upon three small lots of land of the defendant. At the time of this levy, the defendant was the head of a family residing in this State; such family, so residing here, consisted of defendant and his wife. Defendant had only…
