Special Chief Justice. In May of 1988, Susan Stafford was divorced from her husband, Steve Woodrow Stafford, by order of the Chancery Court of Pulaski County. There were two children born to the marriage, Christy and Mitchell. The decree of divorce granted custody of Christy and Mitchell to Susan Stafford, but with a special provision: she was not allowed to remove the children from the residence of her parents, Margie and Cletus Davis, without prior permission of the Court.
