Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Washington County (Berke, J.), rendered October 20, 2000, upon a verdict convicting defendant of two counts of the crime of assault in the second degree.

Defendant was charged in an indictment with two counts of assault in the second degree. At the time of the incident giving rise to the charges, defendant was incarcerated at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Washington County.
