delivered the opinion of the court.
Lena B. Mathes, appellee, hereinafter called plaintiff, recovered a judgment in the Superior Court against appellant, Chicago City Railway Company, hereinafter called defendant, for damages for personal injuries alleged to have been sustained through negligence in operating a street car on which plaintiff was a passenger. The verdict was for $8,000. The court required a remittitur of $4,000, and entered a judgment for $4,000.
