Following a bench trial in the circuit court of Kendall County at which defendant, Ronnell R. Banks, was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) (625 ILCS 5/11 — 501(a)(2) (West 2004)) and driving while his license was suspended (625 ILCS 5/6 — 303 (West 2004)), defendant appeals. On appeal, defendant contends that the evidence was insufficient to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of driving while his license was suspended, because there was no evidence that his license was actually suspended on the date of the purported offense.
