This case involves the validity of a child-custody modification under section 610 of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 40, par. 610). At the time of plaintiff’s and defendant’s divorce, custody of their son was awarded to defendant, Janice S. Sexton. After a hearing on plaintiff Donnie E.
