Following a jury trial, the defendant was convicted of aggravated rape. He appeals, arguing that his right to a speedy trial was violated. We affirm.

Background. In 2010, evidence of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) linked the defendant to a 1998 case involving allegations of aggravated rape and armed assault with intent to murder.2 ,3 The parties agree that an arrest warrant issued for the defendant on those charges on September 2, 2010.
