This was a bill in chancery, filed by defendants in error, on the 1st day of April, 1867, in the Superior Court of Chicago, to redeem a lot in the city of Chicago, from a mortgage and deed of trust. On the 1st day of December, 1854, defendant in error, being the owner of the lot in controversy, executed a mortgage to one Richard IL Swift to secure the payment of five thousand dollars, for which he also gave five'bonds of one thousand dollars each, payable six years after date, with ten per cent, interest, payable semi-annually, and for the interest, coupons were attached to the bonds.
