PARKER, Justice.
At defendant’s first trial on an indictment charging him with the murder of Ralph Reese Bryant, defendant and codefendant Morris Wayne Johnson were found guilty of first-degree murder; and the trial court entered judgments sentencing defendant to death and Johnson to life imprisonment. This Court vacated the verdicts and judgments and remanded both defendant’s case and Johnson’s case for new trial. State v. Johnston, 331 N.C. 680, 417 S.E.2d 228 (1992). On remand defendant was tried separately and capitally on the indictment charging him with the victim’s murder. The jury…
