Following a bench trial, defendant Lawrence Wagner was convicted of attempt to commit the offense of arson (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 8 — 4 and 20 — 1(a)), and sentenced to a term of 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The narrow issue before this court is: where the trial court grants a pretrial defense motion to suppress evidence, and within the 30-day period during which the State may perfect an interlocutory appeal therefrom (Ill.
