Elsie A. Roberts, the remarried widow of Larry W. Taylor, deceased, hereinaft*777er referred to as the veteran, as the administratrix of the estate of such veteran, brought this action against the United States, under 38 U.S.C.A. § 784, to recover the proceeds of a $10,000 National Service Life Insurance policy issued on the life of the veteran.1 Ted H. Taylor, surviving father of Larry W. Taylor, filed a cross-complaint in which he sought to recover from the United States the proceeds of such policy.
