delivered the opinion of the court:

At the conclusion of a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant, George Meares El, was found guilty of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1). He was sentenced to 25 to 75 years imprisonment.

On appeal defendant contends the trial court committed reversible error by: (1) unduly restricting his right to cross-examine a State’s witness; (2) improperly allowing the State, during its case-in-chief, to produce evidence of his prior bad conduct and the victim’s good conduct; and (3) denying him a fair trial in…
