An action was brought in the Circuit Court of McLean County on behalf of plaintiff Laureen Houston, a minor by Rosalie Houston, her mother and next friend, against Sharon Zimmerman for personal injuries arising out of an occurrence in the City of Bloomington on September 6, 1969. At a jury trial, a verdict was returned for the defendant. After a hearing on a post-trial motion, the trial judge found the verdict to be contrary to “the manifest weight of the evidence” and granted a new trial.
