LAURA CARTER HIGLEY, Justice.

A jury found appellant, Joe Lee Simmons, guilty of possession of a controlled substance, namely cocaine, weighing 4 or more grams but less than 200 grams. 1 After finding allegations of two prior felony convictions to be true, the jury assessed appellant’s punishment at 55 years in prison.
