By indictment presented on the thirteenth day of March, 1930, the defendants were accused of the crime of extortion, in violation of section 518 of the Penal Code, committed as follows: It was charged that on or about March 10, 1930, the defendants did wilfully, unlawfully and feloniously obtain certain personal property, to wit, $75,000, of currency, etc., from one Charles II.
