U.S. Steel, a Div. of Usx Corp. v. Nelson

Court of Civil Appeals of Alabama

Decided November 24, 1993No. AV92000588PublishedCited by 30 opinions

1Opinion of the Court

Willie Nelson brought this action to recover benefits from U.S. Steel, under the Workmen's Compensation Act of Alabama. Nelson alleged that while working for U.S. Steel, he sustained an injury to his thumb that resulted in a permanent partial disability to his body as a whole. Following oral proceedings, the trial court found that Nelson's work-related accident resulted in a permanent loss of 54% of his earning capacity. Benefits were awarded accordingly. U.S. Steel appeals.

Initially, U.S. Steel asserts that Nelson failed to prove that his employment was the medical cause of his condition.
