The Lapeer Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association was incorporated in 1871. In 1932, it had $8,182,669 of fire insurance in force. It operated in Lapeer and adjacent counties and was last incorporated in 1931 under the provisions of Act No. 256, Pub. Acts 1917, as amended, being 3 Comp. Laws 1929, §§ 12592-12621, which is part 4, chap. 4, of the insurance code.
In September, 1935, the attorney general on the relation of the commissioner of insurance of the State of Michigan filed a bill of complaint in Ingham county, the purpose of which was to secure the appointment of a receiver “to take…
