This appeal is from a judgment entered in the Superior Court granting the defendant’s motion for a directed verdict in an action of trespass for false arrest.

The facts pertinent to a resolution of this case are as follows. In October of 1960, plaintiff brought an action of trespass for false arrest against defendant, a member of the Police Department of the City of Warwick.
