Defendant was convicted of manslaughter committed in the shooting of one Ernest Dempsey. She had originally been charged with murder, had been convicted of manslaughter, and the conviction had been reversed because of the failure of the court to instruct the jury in the law of self-defense. (People v. Hatchett (1942), 56 Cal.App.2d 20 [132 P.2d 51].) The information had been amended to charge manslaughter.
