Indictment charging that on December 21, 1971, the defendant did willfully and maliciously burn the Tilton town hall. RSA 584:2. Trial by jury in June 1973, resulted in a verdict of guilty and he was sentenced to a term of five years at the State prison. During the course of the trial, defendant preserved various exceptions which were transferred to this court by a bill of exceptions allowed by Loughlin, J.
