Defendants, Jeffrey Carruthers (also known as Jeffrey Corethers) and Johnny Brown, were both found guilty by a jury of the offenses of murder and rape. Each defendant was sentenced to the penitentiary to serve 20 to 50 years for murder and 10 to 20 years for rape, to run consecutively. Both defendants appeal.
