Artemisia Meadows was indicted in the circuit court of Boone county under section 9, chapter 144 of the Code. That section provides: “If any person maliciously shoot, stab,cut or wound any pei’son, or by any means cause him bodily injury, with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or kill, he shall * * * be punished by confinement in the penitentiary not less than two nor more than ten years.
