The defendant appeals1 from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a.2 The defendant claims that the trial court improperly (1) instructed the jury that prior inconsistent statements could not be used for substantive purposes, but could be used only to assess credibility, (2) instructed the jury on reasonable doubt, and (3) permitted the *518prosecutor’s remarks in violation of the defendant’s rights to an impartial jury and a fair trial. We affirm the judgment of the trial court.
