Plaintiff sued Tektronix, Inc., his former employer, for damages resulting from defendant’s alleged breach of promise to increase plaintiffs salary. Plaintiff argues that the trial court erred in granting summary judgment to defendant. We agree.
Plaintiff was employed by defendant from 1956 until his retirement in 1983. He did not have a written contract of employment. Throughout plaintiffs employment, defendant had a designated salary scale for each position. Defendant also had a merit pay program in which superior performance was rewarded with pay increases.
