The issues raised on these cross appeals necessitate a detailed recitation of the chronology of events and evidence which bring these antagonists, who were once fond enough of each other to get married and conceive one child, to this Court. The parties will sometimes be referred to in the roles they occupied in the trial court. Our review is as promulgated in Murphy v. Car-rón, 586 S.W.2d 30 (Mo. banc 1976).
