People v. Kirkpatrick
Appellate Court of Illinois
1Opinion of the CourtJustice Slater
The defendant, Ryan C. Kirkpatrick, was convicted of two counts of threatening a public official. 720 ILCS 5/12 — 9(a)(l)(i), (a)(2) (West 2000). The trial court sentenced him to two consecutive terms of nine years’ imprisonment. Kirkpatrick appeals his conviction and sentence, arguing that: (1) the State failed to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of one of the counts of threatening a public official; and (2) the trial court erred by sentencing him to consecutive sentences. We affirm.
