*210 Plaintiff Rafael Ceara, a state inmate who alleges that he was attacked by a prison guard, filed a pro se complaint under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 in which he identified the defendant as both "John Doe" and "C.O. Deagan." He filed within the statute of limitations and then amended his complaint after the statute expired to clarify that the name of the defendant officer was "Officer Joseph Deacon."
