TATE, Circuit Judge:
By this action, the plaintiff Howard sought damages for a beating and unlawful arrest. He alleged that, acting in concert, five defendants had under color of state authority deprived him of rights secured by the federal constitution. See 42 U.S.C. § 1983. After a five-day jury trial ending in verdict for Howard, judgment was entered in the amount of $56,050 against the five defendants cast.
