State of Maryland v. Willie B. Stewart No. 53, September Term 2018 Criminal Law – Inconsistent Verdicts. The indictment charged the defendant with robbery, second-degree assault, and theft. The jury returned a guilty verdict on the robbery and theft charges and a not guilty verdict on the second-degree assault charge. The verdicts on the robbery and assault charges were not inconsistent so as to require reversal of the robbery conviction.
