After being dismissed from her position with the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District, the plaintiff, Darrilyn Boyles, initiated the present lawsuit in the circuit court of Peoria County. In her complaint, in which she seeks compensatory and punitive damages, the plaintiff alleges that she was discharged by the defendant district in retaliation for filing a claim under the Workers’ Compensation Act (Ill.
