In this certified appeal, the state appeals from the judgment of the Appellate Court, which reversed in part the judgment of the trial court convicting the defendant, John William Davis, Jr., of, inter alia, carrying a pistol without a permit in violation of General Statutes § 29-35 (a) and unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 2011) § 29-38 (a). 1 State v.
