This action under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, 29 U.S.C. § 1001, et seq. (1988) (ERISA), was commenced in response to a claim asserted against the Estate of Edith Lorraine Damon (Estate) by the Colorado State Hospital (Hospital) for the cost of the care and treatment provided to Ms. Damon following the termination of post-retirement medical benefits by Unisys Corporation, her insurer.
