The principles of academic freedom often find uneasy passage in the halls of academia. 1 In this appeal, the plaintiff, William Felkner, describes himself as a "conservative libertarian." He chose, nevertheless, to matriculate in the Master of Social Work program at Rhode Island College's School of Social Work, which, he claims, has a distinct sociopolitical ideology.
