Plaintiff in error was found guilty by a jury at the November term, 1911, of the circuit court of Kane county, of the murder of Estella Dumas on Degember 17, 1910, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the penitentiary.
Plaintiff in error was a married man, living with his wife and two children at Plano, Kendall county. He was thirty-nine years of age and was a carpenter by trade. Prior to his acquaintance with Estella Dumas he was not a hard drinker of intoxicants. In September, 1910, he made the acquaintance of deceased in a house of prostitution near Aurora.
