This is an appeal from orders entering judgment on an arbitration award and denying the defendant relief from the judgment under section 2 — 1301 of the Code of Civil Procedure. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 110, par. 2—1301(e) (now 735 ILCS 5/2—1301(e) (West 1992)).) The underlying action was brought by Richard Tiller after his car was struck by an automobile owned and driven by Susan Semonis.
