In May 1996 prior to bankruptcy, the debt- or, an Illinois resident, purchased a used 1993 Ford Escort from a car dealership located in Missouri, with the understanding that the vehicle would be taken to Illinois and titled in that state. 1 In connection with the sale, the debtor executed a retail installment contract and security agreement, granting the dealer a security interest in the vehicle.
