By deed dated April 5, 1784, and duly recorded on that day, James Sommerville conveyed a lot containing one-half acre in the town of Fredericksburg to Charles Mortimer, William McWilliam, Alexander Dick, and others, and their heirs, to have and to hold the same in trust to and for the use of the master, wardens, officers, fellows and brethren of the Fredericksburg Lodge of Freemasons and their successors, members of the said lodge, forever, and for and to no other use, interest or purpose whatsoever.
