OPINION

JONES, Judge.

The appellant, Ronald Eugene Gilmore, was convicted of robbery with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony, 1 and assault with intent to commit murder in the first degree, a Class A felony, by a jury of his peers. The trial court, finding that the appellant was a persistent offender, sentenced the appellant to serve a term of thirty (30) years in the Department of Correction for the offense of robbery with a deadly weapon.
