| ;In the early morning of June 29, 2013, Defendant, Joseph Eric Vercher, arrived at the Allen Parish Sheriffs Office and spoke with Frederick Stewart, an officer with Oberlin Police Department. Defendant advised the officer that he had stabbed his wife, Rachael Vercher, to death. Following a jury trial, Defendant was found guilty of second degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1, and obstruction of justice, a violation of La.R.S. 14:130.1.
