In the fall of 1893 a highway was laid out in the town of Sempronius, in the county of Cayuga, three rods in width, and known as the “newroad.” At a place in said road, near Sayles’ Corners, abridge was constructed over a ravine about one hundred and fifty feet long of stone, "with dirt filling, about thirteen feet wide, the depth from the top of the bridge to the ground below exceeding six feet.
