This appeal involves a twelve and one-half year delay between the filing of a complaint charging the defendant, Robert Gore, with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under fourteen years of age, and the trial.1 The complaint issued in the New Bedford Division of the District Court Department on October 25, 1995.
