This is an action of trover for five hundred kegs of nails, in which the plaintiffs in error were defendants in the District Court, where it was commenced and tried, and the defendant in error plaintiff. The latter being the owner of a canal boat, called the Good Intent, had been employed by Charles F. Pearson, agent, to convey, by his boat, the nails, on the canal, from Farrandsville to Philadelphia, there to be delivered to W.
