The defendant, Aaron James, was charged with aggravated robbery, especially aggravated kidnapping, and attempted felony escape. Under the felony escape statute, Tenn.Code Ann. § 39-16-605, the State sought to prove, as an element of the offense, that the defendant was being held for a felony at the time of his escape.
