After the parties’ divorce, the mother, having primary physical custody of two minor children, proposed to relocate with them from the former marital home in eastern Massachusetts (near the residence or place of work of the father) over a considerable distance to a location in the western part of the State. The father responded by applying for the award of physical custody to himself, with the effect of denying the proposed relocation.
