ERICKSON, Chief Justice.

The defendant, Dao Nhan Van, 1 was convicted of vehicular homicide, section 18-3-106, C.R.S.1973 (1978 Repl.Vol. 8 & 1983 Cum.Supp.), and appeals his conviction. We affirm.

I

The record reveals the following pertinent facts. On July 29, 1982, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a vehicle driven by the defendant swerved off the side of the road, and struck a light pole. The victim, a passenger in defendant’s vehicle, was killed as a result of the collision.
